I’m Hazel
Kind, compassionately direct, KonMari Consultant, psychotherapist and coach.
Through Matter Tidy Home, Tidy Mind I use my KonMari training, psychological qualifications and decades of life experience….combined with a sprinkling of humour and fun……to help people look past the clutter and actively create a home filled with things they cherish or love to use plus the space and time to enjoy them.
A big believer in our innate ability to adapt…yet understanding we need a big enough incentive to overcome our innate fear of change. Over the last thirty something years I’ve learned that to create true transformative and lasting change our efforts must result in getting something that makes us feel deeply fulfilled…that sparks joy!
And that the ability to do this is not innate. It involves a set of skills that can be taught and learned fairly easily. With the right support we can be creative and capable of this type of transformation.
But we do have to make a choice…..to commit a little courage and commitment to trying a new approach…..or keep doing the same thing.
So, the question is, “How’s your current strategy working out for you?”


My Approach
Spark Joy, Gain Clarity
When we look at a collection of your possessions together, I won’t ask ‘Do you want to get rid of this?’. Instead, I’ll ask you the life-changing question, “Does this spark joy?”.
On continually asking this question, you focus the mind on finding only the things that bring you true fulfilment and joy…..then it gets a big reward with the production of ‘feel good’ hormones. The mind doesn’t want to attach itself to things because of fear, sadness or guilt because it gets no reward. So, discarding becomes much easier.

I work with you to blend practical decluttering and tidying strategies with a mindful approach that reduces stress and fosters lasting well-being.

A little more about me
When I first discovered the KonMari Method I was going through a rough, very busy time and searching for ways to declutter and tidy in the least possible time. I’m embarrassed to admit, I completely missed the real benefit.
After studying and practicing psychology over the past decade, I realised there are significant similarities between the skills taught using the KonMari Method and tried and tested, cognitive and behavioural methods used to improve and maintain mental-wellbeing.
By combining my skills, I can support people to make their experience of decluttering and tidying much easier and more fun…..whilst helping them learn new skills they can use in and out of their homes to make long-lasting, positive change.
